Leslie McCravy was a James Island native who was a bright, cheery young lady, and was passionate about helping animals. In 2007 she was the victim of domestic violence, and in her honor a race has been held on Folly Beach to raise awareness of domestic abuse issues, as well as raise money for Pet Helpers, one of her favorite businesses. All proceeds will benefit the Folly Road business as they continue their daily efforts to save the lives of animals across the Lowcountry. The day will start with a 5K run/walk, followed by a 1 mile family friendly walk/dog jog. Post-race festivities will continue at Rita’s with live music and a silent auction. If you can’t make it there are more ways to lend your support.
To register and for more information head to the Leslie McCravy Memorial 5K run/walk website.
