7th Annual Follywood Oyster Roast
Saturday, Jan. 30
The Brick House
James Island
$15 Cover
Doors at 1pm / Music & Oysters at 2pm (until 10pm)

We’ll be raising funds & awareness for Warrior Surf Foundation at the 7th Annual Follywood Oyster Roast at the Brick House Jan. 30. We’ve doubled the amount of oysters we’re ordering this year, we’re setting up some satellite speed bars, bringing in parking attendants & working on an Uber discount code for anyone wanting to cab it there & back. Our food truck is Charleston Caribbean Creole (Caribbean, Creole & Cajun fare) & they’re bringing their dessert truck as well. The Brick House will also be offering its full menu from 4-10 p.m. The event is family-friendly, and kids 10 & under get in free. We’ll have some kids activities as well, like jump castles, carnival games, etc.

“We saw an opportunity after how big last year was and decided to make this year’s oyster roast a fundraiser. We weighed our options and Warrior Surf Foundation was the obvious choice. We liked the fact that they’re an up-and-comer, it’s a start-up cause with solid momentum and a strong message that anyone can get behind, and it’s local to Folly Beach, so it’s close to our hearts.”

“This year’s lineup may be our best yet. The Piedmont Boys blew the crowd away last year, so we knew we were bringing them back. Guilt Ridden Troubadour was the first band we worked with in Charleston, and they play this party almost every year. The Royal Tinfoil and Josh Roberts & The Hinges are two of my personal favorite local touring bands, and it wouldn’t be a Follywood party without having Folly Beach properly represented, so Deadwin and Don’t Mess with the Tiger gave us a mix of local diversity that really put it over the top.”

“Instead of throwing a Christmas or holiday party, we’ve always liked having ours about a month after New Year’s, when everyone’s had a chance to recover from all that. And it’s always a rager – ‘Good times for a good cause’.”

Warrior Surf Foundation is a veteran-operated nonprofit organization helping vets with PTSD and physical injuries through surfing therapy. The project was started in May 2015 by professional surfers and American combat veterans. For more information, visit warrior surf.org.
