One of the best festivals on Folly Beach is this Friday April 8 and Saturday April 9, 2016.  Bands, vendors, food and games will fill Center Street providing the perfect opportunity to come out and enjoy the spring weather and your favorite Folly friends.  James Justin & Co. returns to Folly to headline the event along with many other bands on 2 stages.

Folly Beach’s longest-running event, the 26th Annual Sea & Sand Festival, kicks off Friday, April 8th with the 3rd Annual Miss Sea & Sand Pageant in the Folly River Park at 7 p.m.

Saturday, April 9th, the festivities continue with the 6th Annual Coffin Island 5K Race. This particular 5K is unique in that participants are encouraged to dress in full pirate gear & run the race in character as their favorite swashbuckler. The race begins at the Folly Beach Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier on Arctic Ave. at 8:30 a.m. and goes to the 12th Block East beach access where the runners then turn and run the second half of the race on the beach. Among the awards are 1st Place Male, 1st Place Female & Best Costume. Online Registration is live on active.com.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, the big fun begins with an all-day street party that stretches four city blocks from Huron St. to Ashley Ave. on Center St. There will be live music on two stages. This year’s band lineup includes James Justin & Co., Don’t Mess with the Tiger, Sunflowers & Sin, Shakin’ Martinis, Island Trio & the Folly Bluegrass Society.

Sea & Sand Festival is Folly Beach’s largest arts event featuring over 100 art vendors, as well as 20 of the island’s best restaurants and food vendors.

Other attractions include a kids activities zone with a four-station bungee jump trampoline, carnival games, face-painting & more, a mechanical bull, corn hole, silent auction, book signing, etc.

As always, the Sea & Sand Festival is family, kid and dog-friendly. Those wanting to enjoy adult beverages in the street inside the festival perimeter will be required to purchase a 21 & up wristband at one of the many information booths for $2.
